If Bill Clinton had chased trains instead of Monica, the world would be a different place today.

Oregon Pine Belt Railway

The Oregon Pine Belt Railway is a very small empire in my garden. Garden railways don't require an estate, a lot of wealth, or a savage addiction to railroading. They are work, but of the fun sort that gets dirt on your hands. You get to build, make miniature models, garden, and relax as your efforts come to life. As the Pine Belt grows and changes, so will this section of the site.

Amtrak Trainchasing Trip

Ever thought of taking a trip on Amtrak? I did--a trainchasing odyssey some 5,000 miles long. By the time I was done, I had pictures and text to share with you. It isn't like riding on the Orient Express, and it isn't like flying, either. Along the way, I learned some things about Amtrak that you should probably know.

Central Oregon & Pacific Railroad

Sometimes, the best way of chasing a train is by simply riding on it. On two separate occasions, I have had the distinct pleasure of a cab ride on a CORP train. This is not an honor to be taken lightly. I can't tell you why I was so lucky, but some of it has to do with the simple fact that I appreciate the chance. You can't twist their arm and you can't sneak aboard. It doesn't hurt to share their passion for safety, and I do. Come along for a couple of nice rides.

Model Railroad News

As the editor of MRN, I sometimes get into some issues that can't be fully explored in the magazine. One of those issues involves pull testing. I have tested most of my own locomotives and add more all the time. I keep all of this information in a database which I can share with you here. I may also explore the concept of "Afterviews", wherein I look at a model we have reviewed a few months later, to see if I missed anything. All of this is NOT an official function of Model Railroad News, however. The opinions expressed here are mine and not those of MRN.
